High Blood Pressure? Yoga Could Help

That’s not to say that aerobic exercise doesn’t work, but exercises that build strength without moving muscles or joints were found to result in a greater fall in blood pressure which is good news for anyone with high blood pressure who was nervous or dubious about practising yoga!

In our yoga class we use the flow of movement to improve flexibility through the whole body, making sure to transition safely from one asana (exercise) to the next. When we engage in the Sun Salutation (an integral part of our yoga class) part of this flow involves the plank position. We repeat the Sun Salutation several times in each class so not only are we improving our breathing and muscle strength we are also benefiting our blood pressure too.

All Kamakosha yoga classes are taught by Josie, a qualified yoga teacher who has also studied anatomy, and can answer any questions you may have about yoga and how it can improve your health.
