The answer to this depends on individual bio-rhythms, what you are aiming to achieve and realistically, what time you have available.
Traditionally, yoga is practised in the morning to increase energy flow and flexibility. Morning yoga classes can be more energetic, moving between asanas at a faster pace and stretching the muscles ready for the day ahead, although every class I teach will end with relaxation, calming breathing exercises and the Savasana pose to help meditation.
However, not everyone is able to fit in a morning yoga class and many find that an evening class is great for calming stress levels and re-focusing the mind after a busy day. A little ‘me’ time is never a bad thing! Additionally, if you’re a bit of a night owl, your own body’s bio-rhythms may be more suited to an evening class.
Any time spent practicing yoga is beneficial, whether it’s strenuous, relaxing or motivating so don’t feel bad if you’re not up with the larks, moonlight yoga (using the energy of the full moon) is increasing in popularity!
Kamakosha Yoga is delighted to announce that I will soon be able to offer evening yoga classes in Buntingford. More information to follow.
During the summer months I also hold weekly evening yoga classes outdoors at Great Munden Recreational Gardens.
If you would like to learn more about yoga or join one of my classes please contact me on 07947 653380 or email josie@kamakosha.co.uk . I’d love to hear from you.
